About
INTERNATIONAL TANKA SOCIETY publishes
INTERNATIONAL TANKA, successor to THE TANKA JOURNAL (1992~2017),
twice a year.
Our purpose is to advance the appreciation and practice of tanka, Japanese traditional poetry with a fixed-form having more than 1,300 years of history, throughout the world.
To this end, we provide a commonplatform to publish tanka in various languages as well as Japanese and wish to deepen mutual human understandingbeyond borders by placing them in one journal.
In addition, since 2018, we have been handling the reception for theforeign language section of the Mt.Fuji Grand Prix. Every February, an awards ceremony for the previous year's
submissions is held in Tokyo.

The membership fees entitle the members
1. to receive a copy of the Spring and Fal issues of the Journal by air mail.
2. to submit five tanka and a piece of tanka prose for the Spring and Fal
3. to submit a tanka to the Mt. Fuji Grand Prix, Foreign Language Category.
＜Annual Membership Fee＞
Please pay the membership fee for the current year
by February 1st of each year.
Mid-year membership applications are accepted at any time.
However, the full annual membership fee for the current year will be charged.
